Anastasija Uvarova

Anastasija Uvarova is a physiotherapist who focuses on women’s health, especially antenatal and post-partum rehabilitation. Becoming a mother led her to her specialisation; post-birth, she felt the limited extent to which post-partum rehabilitation support was offered in Cyprus and discovered that many women would suffer during pregnancy and after birth from issues such as incontinence, musculoskeletal pain and diastasis recti. This spurred her to pursue further training in Pelvic, Obstetric and Gynaecological Physiotherapy (POGP) to be able to fully assess and treat musculoskeletal pelvic floor disorders. Since then she has opened her own private practice, where, in addition to practicing general musculoskeletal physiotherapy, she also works on women’s health. Anastasija graduated from the University of Bradford with Physiotherapy degree and after moving to Cyprus, she spent a number of years working as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist in a private clinic. Anastasija has been fully trained on Clinical Pilates by the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute as well as other types of therapy, such as Kinetic Control, neuromusculoskeletal mobilisation and Mulligan mobilisation techniques. A combination of manual therapy and exercises contribute to her holistic approach in the rehabilitation process. In 2016, she joined Birth Forward, an NGO focusing on improving birth culture in Cyprus, providing education for parents (to be) and on women’s rights in childbirth.
