Maria Christodoulou

Dr. Maria Christodoulou is a leading Health and Wellness Coach with over 25 years’ experience in integral healthcare, and ongoing coaching in the private and public health sector. She coaches individuals on a range of health and wellness related goals, facilitates health and wellness related workshops, and acts as supervisor and mentor to medical and coaching students. As a medical doctor, Maria ran a private practice offering integrative care to people with cancer and other chronic diseases. Her awareness of the limitations of medical practice, and her desire to expand on the paradigm of established norms within the doctor-patient relationship, led her to explore other models of therapy. She completed an ICF-accredited coaching diploma in 2005 and made the transition from integrative medical practitioner to full-time coach. Since 2014, she has focused on coaching individuals and teams of specialist doctors, with an emphasis on personal resilience, leadership skills, emotional intelligence and change agency. Her contributions in this arena led to her appointment as Relational Coach at Stellenbosch University’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in March 2016. Maria travels between South Africa, Greece and Cyprus and is increasingly conducting her work online. She is a registered member of the HPCSA (Health Professions Council of South Africa) and COMENSA (Coaches and Mentors of South Africa).
