Nefeli Tsiouti

Nefeli is a choreographer, dance researcher and lecturer, and a sports massage therapist. She has been dancing for 23 years, with a background in classical ballet, which developed into a passion for hip-hop and breakdance. Nefeli is on a mission to reduce the risk of injuries and enhance the health of dancers so as to prolong their careers. She is an Associate Researcher at the Cyprus Musculoskeletal & Sports Trauma Research Centre and the founder & director of Project Breakalign. Project Breakalign aims to bridge the gap between research and dance medicine, hip-hop dancers, and health and medical practitioners. Other than presenting her research internationally, in June 2018, Nefeli won 1st prize, as well as Most Innovative Idea at the EUC-Peak Competition for start-ups in Cyprus. Nefeli has a BA in French Language & Literature (University of Athens), an MA in Choreography (Middlesex University) and a scholarship-backed MSc in Dance Science (Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance). She is currently studying BSc Physical Therapy at the European University Cyprus. She serves on the Board of Directors of the United Breakin’ Association (UBA) and Healthy Dancer Canada (HDC). She is a member of the Bogliasco Foundation Fellowship Advisory Committee for Dance in Europe.
