Pola Theophanous

Pola Theophanous is a plastics expert who spent 10 years studying and working abroad before relocating to Cyprus to focus on the marketing and sales of plastics raw materials (polymers). She implements her experience in polymers and helps companies optimise their production and processes. Pola also collaborates with new customers, bringing in new projects, and helps develop these from the concept stage, to support and supply of the most suitable material, to the trials and through to final production. Pola acquired a BSc in Chemistry from Queen Mary University of London, after which she specialised in polymer engineering at London Metropolitan University, which boasts one of the leading research labs in the region. Pola finished university as one of the top 100 Masters graduates of her year, and was quickly recruited to the Netherlands by the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), a leading company in the polymers area. She started as a graduate engineer and was soon promoted to Technical Polymer Engineer within the automotive industry where she worked on internal development projects such as material development through research and troubleshooting in the automotive value chain. She became the company expert on paint adhesion for plastic surfaces (specifically, for car bumpers) and actively handled technical complaints by research and analysis and initiated corrective measures to prevent re-occurrence (products, processes, R&D). Her work led to the manufacture of innovative products that were put into production of cars that are currently in the market.
