Selen Mesutoglu

Selen is experienced in event management, strategic and corporate communications, as well as graphic design. For the last 3 years, she has been the communication and events manager at the EU Infopoint in Nicosia. She has 15 years of experience as a communications consultant in Cyprus at USAID and in EU-funded projects in a variety of sectors, including civil society organisations; she has therefore acquired great insight and in-depth knowledge of EU policies and priorities.  Selen has long been involved in the implementation and organisation of communications and media activities, including information networks and direct communication with audiences in Cyprus. Working mostly in Cyprus, she has become well-versed in the socio-economic and political structure of the northern part of Cyprus. Selen was awarded Fulbright scholarship for her undergraduate studies in the USA, graduating with university degrees in strategic communications (BSJ) and graphic design (BFA) in 2003. She also has an MA in Corporate Communications & Reputation Management from Manchester Business School. She is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Leicester with a thesis on “Regional Branding as a Mobilising Force for the EU’s Smart Specialization Strategy in Contested Regions: The Case of Cyprus”. Selen has also been a columnist at the Kıbrıs-Economy and Haber Kıbrıs news outlets. She was the host of Bunlar Ne Konusuyor?, a talk show discussing issues relating to business and the economy on Kanal T
